Summertime

The summer term at school always seems the longest. Probably because it is the longest term but also because it is the massive wait until the bliss of the summer holidays! Ah, six weeks of doing nothing at all or everything you can't do when you are cooped up in school all week. Just a chance to relax and catch up on your favourite television program or listen to the radio.

Today is the first day of the holidays for me, and I am bored out of my mind.

I woke up at 7:00am because I forgot to switch off my alarm clock last night so I could lie in... and I haven't been able to go back to sleep. I have been up for 5 hours with nothing to occupy me. It is boring.

I should be relaxing! And I can't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is very frustrating. Then Mum woke up and came through to say, "Morning" and I told her I was bored.

She said, "Tidy your room then"

And I have to tidy my room now. This hasn't been a good start to the summer.

Ankles and Slinkies

Ankles, ankles, ankles.

Deary me! Ankles are probably one of the WORST places you can hurt yourself on your body, (well, sort of) because it can take the longest amount of time to heal. They are also painful and you find it hard to walk on them... so in effect, you walk with a limp and damage other parts of your body (mainly the other leg and your back) thus making a never ending cycle of misery!

Just to let you know, I pulled a ligament in my right ankle on Tuesday during basketball and had to stay off school on Wednesday, because it was too painful to walk. Today it has been a bit sore but my trusty Converse has saved me because they supported my ankle properly.

Ah, the SLINKY!

Slinkies are probably the best toy ever created. So simple and a complete classic. A spring. Who would have thought that it would have been so successful? I mean, it has been around since 1945 and is still going strong. And of course, the famous Jingle is legend:

What walks down stairs, alone or in pairs, and makes a slinkity sound?
A spring, a spring, a marvelous thing! Everyone knows it's Slinky.
It's Slinky, it's Slinky. For fun it's a wonderful toy.
It's Slinky, it's Slinky. It's fun for a girl or a boy.
It's fun for a girl or a boy!
Ah, no one can get that out of their head very well. The other day I was looking up Rubik's Cubes on Amazon, to see how much they cost and the different types you could get! And then I looked up Slinky and it came up with the slinky, are rip-off called, "Springy" and guess what!

Halfway down the page was the Classic Rubik's Cube...

...its a strange life!

Peace and Run!

The End of the World

Don't you just feel that sometimes, people just want the world to die? There are so many things that people keep on saying will end up killing us all like some machines that could open a black hole, or some sort of food poisoning. Apparently the year we all have to watch out for is 2012.

Yes, there are a GIANT number of things that will kill us in 2012. Seriously. People are getting a bit worked up about some of the stuff:

  • Bird flu will end up killing the human race
  • Swine flu will have killed the last human being
  • An ancient calender that hasn't been used in a couple of thousand years ENDS in 2012, so it must be the apocolypse
  • It will be the apocolypse
  • Planet X will have hit the Earth, killing all life
  • Aliens are going to invade and enslave all being, we will be fed once a month and be constantly in chains and have to bow down to our new masters
  • Nuclear weapons will destroy the Earth
  • Another race of aliens will come and declare war on us, making us have to fight for survival in the universe
  • The internet will become awful and many will commit suicide because it has lost its potential
  • Yellowstone volcano will erupt, killing the world by suffocation

Honestly! I mean, some of these things don't even make sense
! And if all these things happen, I am going to laugh, because they all contradict each other, except one or two.

Well, a little warning! Apparently the end is in 2012... you have been warned.

Well, thats all I have to say right now!

Peace and Run!

Day Two... wait, no, is it day one?

Hi!

Gosh, I don't know what to call this entry! This is Day 2 of my blog, but its also day 1, because I haven't written any proper blogs. I was playing about with the Side Bar and Gadgets when I wrote the blogs, "What is Doctor Who?" and "What is this 'Converse' You speak about?". I've decided if I do write about something that might confuse people or that I just want to talk more about, then I can write a while Post on it and pop it in the sidebar! I think this will be Blog #1, Day #2. That makes sense, doesn't it?

I have discovered something AMAZING. I know all the Doctors in Chronological order off the tope of my head. But to be honest, I have never memorised them on purpose to do this 'trick' and I was born in the mid '90s; an era with no Doctor Who apart from the film!

So, today I was in school, talking about Doctor Who and I managed to say all the Doctors (well, the actors anyway) off the top of my head. Except Peter Davidson. The 5th one. Which I am annoyed about because it is a really obvious one!!!! Silly, silly child, well, adolescent, teenager, whatever you want to call it.

I suppose my next challenge is to learn all the Companions........

*gulp*

"What is this, 'Converse' you are talking about?"

"Converse?" you ask.

And my jaw drops!

Converse is a company that makes shoes, but when people say that they have converse they are talking about a pair of shoes they own made by C
onverse. These are normally Baseball Boots.

They are in fact Chuck Taylor's All Stars and are produced by the company Converse, they can be referred to as, "Chuck's", "Chuck T's", "Baseball Boots", "Cons", "Converse", "All Stars" and so on. They are the most successful shoes ever created and have had immense popularity over the years (though addmittedly with some downs). The first pair that were produced were produced in 1917 making them a very old, but classic design.

They are made from Canvas and rubber. People tend to comment on how comfy they are and the nice variety of colours.

I love Converse myself and have never tried on a more comfy shoe. They just tend to rock!

"What is Doctor Who?"

Now, you may be asking yourself, "What on Earth is 'Doctor Who?'" (but the chances are that you do know what it is... but maybe you don't, whichever) and I'm going to tell you what it is!

Doctor Who is a British sci-fi television program that first aired in in the 60's (1963 to be precise) and ended in 1989. In 2005 it returned to our screens starring Christopher Eccleston as the famous Doctor with Billie Piper playing his assistant/companion. The resurrection of the show introduced sci-fi to a whole new generation of children. So far, the show has been going strong.

The Doctor is the main character of the television show, and is a 900 (roughly) year old Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, which (after the 16 year gap) has been destroyed in the Last Great Time War, a battle between the Time Lords and Daleks. Time Lords have the ability to 'regenerate' which means that when they are nearly dead, their bodies heal themselves and create a new body, making them have several lives. This also means that several different actors have played the Doctor. So far, we know 11 different actors that play the Doctor, which are follows:

  • William Hartnell
  • Patrick Troughton
  • Jonn Pertwee
  • Tom Baker
  • Peter Davidson
  • Colin Baker
  • Sylvester McCoy
  • Paul McGann
  • Christopher Eccleston
  • David Tennant
  • Matt Smith
The Doctor is known to travel round in his TARDIS (which stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space) with a Companion or two (always a woman, or a woman with a man, there has been no only male companions... yet...) and has lots of different adventures, which normally end us fighting for the survival of the Human race against an Alien threat! Some recurring enemies have included, the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Sontarans and so on.

The show is incredibly popular and is one of the most successful sci-fi programs ever made.

I absolutely LOVE it!!!
